Kharkiv airport equipment passed ICAO certification

02.11.2012

Kharkiv International Airport continues the process of certification of the equipment installed here after the reconstruction, in accordance with international standards. So the system for automatic landing approach (ILS – Instrument landing system) was recently assigned the first ICAO category.

“While preparing our airport to receive guests of Euro 2012, we were faced with the task of equipping the air gates of Slobozhanshchina with the most advanced technological solutions existing in the civil aviation industry. Therefore, the new runway is equipped with a powerful automatic landing approach system for aircraft. It allows pilots to land in poor visibility conditions – for example, during heavy precipitation or fog”,  – said Vladimir Vasilchenko, General Director of New Systems AM (the operator of Kharkiv International Airport, part of the DCH group of Alexander Yaroslavsky ).

Traditionally, the process of equipment certification takes quite a long time. The assigned ICAO category is only one of the stages of work in this direction. In the near future, Kharkiv International Airport will prepare documents for obtaining the second category for the ILS system.
